Making A Small Solar Panel

Listen to the news on TV and most nights you’ll hear talk about reducing your carbon footprint.  The solution is fairly easy.  All we need to do is recycle, reuse and reduce.  In a way it is simple.  To reduce our use of electricity we need to find an alternative source of power.  That’s one reason why people want to learn to make a small solar panel as a first step to living off the grid and reducing our carbon emissions.

Making a smaller version of some of the big, elaborate solar power panel systems that are linked together is really quite easy.  You can purchase a ready made solar panel or save some money by building your own generator.  Actually, the panels will produce the electricity needed to charge the batteries which hold the power.  By doing this we help to minimize our carbon output and it’s negative effects on the planet.

As an example, every activity people are involved in and resources we consume, has a measured amount of energy associated with it.  The food we eat requires energy to harvest and manufacture and have it delivered to stores.  Even the clothes we wear and of course the fuel we use for our cars all have some type of power consumption associated with it.  So learning to make a small solar panel make seem like it would have an insignificant impact, but if more people would learn how to build this power source, the cumulative effect could be very important.

What we’re really talking about here is not having to depend on the primary power grid that supplies electricity as well as other resources to everyone. Each utility bill represents a connection or link to the energy system in some way. We all pay for the resources we consume including heating, water, gas and of course electric power. But, it’s easy to by-pass the system and learn how to create your own energy source. And people can live completely or partially independent from the country’s grid, depending on how aggressive you want to be.

Nuclear may be a clean form of power but it has it’s own share of downfalls. The production of harmful nuclear waste which takes millions of years to break down is one of them. This is problematic since we have limited land for storage and being contained. Nuclear byproducts could eventually leach into the environment. All of these reasons argue for building a small solar project for your home.

Because we don’t realize how our typical electrical usage can affect the earth’s climate in a very strong manner, they’re not as concerned about finding alternatives.  The importance for finding renewable, sustainable forms of energy is exceptionally important.  It’s not just the fact that the energy sources we consume now could harm the atmosphere.  It’s also the fact is that it’s not renewable. Eventually, the way we are consuming the energy, we will soon run out.  This is probably the most significant reason behind our need to find alternative sources of energy.

I had a lot of time to think about our situation over the next several days, and that’s when I decided I was going to build a solar panel to generate power that I could use when ever I needed it. Yep, I liked the idea of living off the grid… however small it might be.

It’s possible to live completely off the power grid and never pay for electricity again through harnessing the power of the sun.

No doubt more people are choosing this method of power generation since energy costs are always on the rise.  The reasons for doing this  are not only financial but also environmental.  This is a very clean method of energy generation without harmful byproducts.

Choosing total solar energy generation to power your entire house is not without its disadvantages.  Of course solar panels can drastically reduce an electric bill and converts your home to a much more ecologically friendly building.  But the start-up cost for a giant solar powered electric network can be expensive. There are many ways you can get around the large start-up cost by installing smaller solar panels on your roof.  Although installing a complete solar array on your roof may be a little more involved, it is possible.  We suggest you start small and build from there.  Almost anyone can accomplish that simple goal.
